Man, plenty good stuff since my last post. Went to Houston last weekend, Star Pizza is still really good, got my first look at Brooks and I still don’t believe it (OK maybe I do), went to Alfred’s crawfish boil, rocked The Pope room at Buca di Beppo for Zack and Dad’s birthday bash, then drove back to Austin for Ashley’s costume birthday party.

Last night, got a change to play some 42. Why is that game good for the soul? I did not play well and fucked up when my partner splashed. In my defense, I have not played too much 42 when splash is bid.

The other news, looks like foursquare is the new dodgeball.

Getting settled

Posted by geeseven | misc | Tuesday 10 March 2009 10:47 pm

So I have been in Austin for about a month now and things are getting settled. I am all but out of moving boxes and the fish tank is up and running with fish! Had some major head aches with AT&T’s U-verse service, never ever EVER EVER get U-verse. Customer “support” is atrocious. You will never get the same response to a question twice and they will break every promise they make. I still have not a promised call about my first credit more or less the second credit, both times they were the ones that brought it up in the first place! *eye roll*

I have seemed to pick up the “lay of the land” quicker than I did with San Antonio, it also helps having a GPS even if the maps are acouple years old. I have not made it our to any shows yet, but have hit a few good restaurants and hand full of bars. Looks like Nomad Bar will be the work happy hour joint. I think I am going to like it here.

FYI, heading to Houston this weekend!

Off to Austin

Posted by geeseven | misc | Monday 9 February 2009 11:22 pm

So the movers are coming tomorrow and all most all of my stuff is packed. My mood is surprisingly subdued.

Much like Ramble On with the San Antonio move, I seem to be drawn to Ball And Chain over the past few days.

Take away this ball and chain.

Austin update

Posted by geeseven | misc | Monday 2 February 2009 11:42 am

I am still getting all the details worked out, but it looks like I will be in Austin by the 16th! Due to some issues with my current apartment complex, it will be easier to transfer to one of their Austin locations. This is not ideal, but will be good enough to get my foot in the door.

While I am excited, it is smothered with worry about all the details. The more details that get shorted out the more excited I get.

tilt shift photography

While I am no shutterbug, I have been getting into the cool stuff that can be done with tilt shift photography. Stuff like this and this and this and even cooler video stuff.

Since I don’t have a fancy camera I got playing with tiltshiftmaker.com and made the following:

day = bad, shell = bad, rackers = GREAT

Posted by geeseven | misc | Saturday 3 November 2007 9:43 am

Today I really felt that the 2nd shift Rackers showed their true colors. I was not having a good day, as I could not asleep last night (last time I looked at the clock it was 8:30 AM) so I was tired and cranky. One of finer monitoring techs, let me know that one of my tires was running low. So I go out to check and low and behold, I got a staple in one of my tires. I got the jack out and got the lug nuts removed, but the rim was stuck on and would not budge. After some banging and pulling, I decided to walk to the Shell Station to get some WD40.

I was happy to find that the Shell did have WD40, but the cashier insisted I paid with a $10 when infact I handed him a $20. He told me there was nothing he could do and that I could talk with the manager tomorrow, all the while making me out to be a thief. A very UNfanatical experience to say the least and I left ANGRY and insulted.

I get back and WD40′d the crap out of the stuck wheel and let it sit for awhile. After while there is a handful of rackers from different departments helping me get the tire off. After a fair amount of “dude sweat” we got the tire free and the spare installed.

8 Rackers from four different departments came to my aid, making sure that I was “squared away”. As angry as I am with that Shell station, I feel fortunate to work with Rackers that take care of their own. Big thanks to all the Rackers that helped me in my time of need.

Mobile Links

Posted by geeseven | misc | Sunday 22 April 2007 11:26 am

I had a request for some links to cell phone browser friendly web sites. Most of my bookmarks on my Sidekick no longer worked. But for those of you that might be interested in the few that still worked, here ya go.

Most of the bookmarks were from the era before ever phone had a browser and now many sites automatically redirect to a cell phone friendly layout.

I may or may not update that page with more links, just depends on how lazy I am.

I knew I have seen this before

Posted by geeseven | misc | Tuesday 11 July 2006 6:29 pm

So this morning I was checking out xbox-scence to see if there was anything new in xbox land and this article caught my eye. Not that I play Halo or random add on map packs that Halo Maps put out, but one of the screen shots caught my eye.

For some reason I couldn’t firgure out why this screenshot looked so familiar, but then I remembered back to my Elite Force days and the holomatch map, CTF_voy1.
